Strongly Correlated Electronic Materials : Present and Future

چکیده
1037 Abstract In complex transition-metal oxides, the interactions between the electronic spins, charges, and orbitals produce a rich variety of electronic phases. The competition and/or cooperation among these correlated-electron phases can lead to the emergence of surprising electronic phenomena and functionalities and form the basis for a new type of electronics. Electronic transport in Si and Au monoatomic chains considering strongly correlation effect, a first principle study
We have investigated structure and electronic properties of Au and Si liner chains using the firstprinciplesplane wave pseudopotential method. The transport properties and conductance of these twoliner chains are studied using Landauer approaches based on density functional theory (DFT). Weobtain density of states and band gap using Kohn-Sham and Wannier functions as well as quantumconductivity...
متن کاملLDA + DMFT implemented with the pseudopotential plane - wave approach
We present a joint implementation of dynamical-mean-field theory (DMFT) with the pseudopotential plane-wave approach, via Wannier functions, for the determination of the electronic properties of strongly correlated materials. The scheme uses, as input for the DMFT calculations, a tight-binding Hamiltonian obtained from the planewave calculations by projecting onto atomic-centered symmetry-const...
متن کاملQuantum Impurity Models as Reference Systems for Strongly Correlated Materials: The Road from the Kondo Impurity Model to First Principles Electronic Structure Calculations with Dynamical Mean-Field Theory
Dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) relates extended systems (bulk solids, surfaces and interfaces) to quantum impurity models (QIM) satisfying a self-consistency condition. This mapping provides an economic description of correlated electron materials. It is currently used in practical computations of physical properties of real materials. It has also great conceptual value, providing a simple ...
متن کاملSynchrotron Radiation Spectroscopy on Strongly Correlated Electron Systems
Solids with strong electron–electron interaction, namely strongly correlated electron systems (SCES), have various physical properties, such as non-BCS superconducting, colossal magneto-resistance, heavy fermion and so on, which cannot be predicted by first-principle band structure calculation. Due to the physical properties, the materials are the candidates of the next generation functional ma...

A review of the basic ideas and techniques of the spectral density-functional theory is presented. This method is currently used for electronic structure calculations of strongly correlated materials where the one-electron description breaks down. The method is illustrated with several examples where interactions play a dominant role: systems near metal-insulator transitions, systems near volum...
